SIGHT UNSEEN:

SOLITUDE

A Photo Essay

Sasa Kovacevic

This photo essay explores the day of a student, and their exposure to solitude throughout that day. I was inspired by my own days, which typically begin on the 7 a.m. train and end at 10 p.m. when a closing shift at work finally finishes. From early morning study sessions in an empty library, to being the last car in the parking lot after a long night of work, students often find themselves alone. Sometimes this solitude is invited or sought out, but other times it just seems to appear. When we see someone alone, we often pay no attention to it at all, and they become just another person in passing. But when we are alone, there are so many things that could be happening in our minds. Maybe we are focused on a task, or maybe we are in deep thought and reflection. But maybe, just maybe, all we want to do is go home and have an end to the a day. Whichever it may be, I hoped to explore these viewpoints on solitude through my photographic essay.

All of the photos were taken using a standard iPhone 6, and edited using basic skills in Adobe Photoshop.
