STUDENT FASHION SHOW - ROCK THE RUNWAY 2018

Every year, the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation looks for ways to raise funds for various programs. In 2018, the Foundation was raising funds to support Full Day Kindergarten programs for disadvantaged. 2018 also marked the 8th Annual Student Fashion Show, with all proceeds return to the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation.

During my Advanced Field Experience, I supported to students at LY Cairns in creating three garments to showcase in the Student Fashion Show. Because LY Cairns does not currently have a fashions program, this work was completed after school, when students were able to attend. We also worked hard to create custom throw pillows to sell to raise additional funds for the Foundation. We were able to successfully raise over $1,300 from pillow sales.

However, It was when I met Alva Shewchuck, Fund Development Associate, and Tracy Poulin, Director, that the magic really started to happen. Alva was in search of an emcee for the event, and I was more than willing to oblige. Together, with the help of many other individuals, we were able to pull off what some believed to be the most successful Student Fashion Show to date. Overall, the Foundation raised more than $7,000.

I was lucky enough to receive a letter of reference from Tracy, available to be viewed here

Please see a video and some snapshots from the evening below.
